COUNTERBALANCE FLT DRIVER
Location: Ashton-in-Makerfield, WN4 8DE
Salary: £31,616.00–£34,116.00 per year
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, based on 47.5 hours per week
Additional Hours: Saturday work is a requirement and will be worked on a rotational basis to meet business needs, 7:00am–12:00pm. Saturday hours are paid separately at the applicable hourly rate.
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Yard Operative & Pickup Driver to join our Ashton-in-Makerfield branch.
This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety, supporting day-to-day yard operations, assisting customers, loading and unloading vehicles, and completing local deliveries and drop-offs.
Key Responsibilities
Assist customers with collections, orders and general yard queries.
Pick and pack customer orders accurately.
Load and unload vehicles safely.
Operate a counterbalance forklift to move stock around the yard.
Store stock safely and securely in the correct areas.
Complete local deliveries and drop-offs as required.
Keep the yard clean, tidy and safe at all times.
Support the wider branch team with general duties as required.
Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies at all times.
About You
The successful candidate will:
Hold a valid counterbalance FLT licence.
Hold a full clean UK driving licence.
Have previous yard, warehouse or timber/builders merchant experience, preferred.
Be friendly, approachable and confident dealing with customers.
Have a proactive and reliable approach to work.
Be hard-working with a positive attitude.
Have good attention to detail.
Be physically fit and comfortable with manual work.
Work well as part of a busy team.
Previous Timber & Builders Merchant experience would be advantageous.
