Why choose slatted fence panels?

Compared to traditional, solid fence panels, slatted panels are popular because they:

  • Let air through

This can make them less likely to blow over in strong winds and stop the sail effect in strong winds.

  • Allow for increased light flow

Ideal for overlooked, small, or heavily planted gardens, this increased light can stop feelings of gloom and keep even a more bijou garden from feeling as small as it is.

  • Privacy without interrupted views

When viewed straight on, slatted panels give a good level of screening, despite the gaps between slats.

However, when viewed from further back, they allow the land beyond to remain visible by blurring the view rather than blocking it. This makes it particularly popular with homes or businesses in areas of outstanding natural beauty or near open fields.

  • Contemporary architectural style

If you have an overtly modern home or building, with lots of glass and metal, solid panels can seem old-fashioned.

Instead, choose a design-led panel that continues the contemporary feel to your outdoor oasis. They look good on both sides, too!

Types of slatted fence panels

Also known as Venetian fence panels or slat fencing, there are four types of progressive slatted fences to choose from:

Slatted eased four corners

  • Has finished edges that are slightly rounded or smoothed (eased) to give a softer, more premium finish

  • It can help rainwater run off and reduce the chance of splintering at the edges

Framed slatted

  • Features a full wood frame around the edges, similar to a picture frame

  • Gives a neater, more solid appearance without changing the slat thickness

  • May be easier to install

Slatted Venetian

  • Uses typical narrow slats, positioned horizontally with smaller gaps between

  • Gives a more refined, architectural feel

  • Can offer increased privacy because of the slimmer gaps between slats

Wide slatted

  • Has wider horizontal boards, spaced evenly apart

  • Still allows for improved light and air flow compared to traditional solid panels

  • Offers improved privacy
