Outdoor living rooms

Outdoor living rooms provide you with the opportunity to appreciate the environment around you whilst being able to reflect or reconnect and spend time with loved ones. Sunny days and warm evenings can be spent outside in a space that is essentially a living room but with the added benefit of fresh air.

Use decking to create the perfect base for your outdoor furniture, North West Timber Treatments have a variety of both timber and composite decking to suit all.

Living walls

If you’re looking to add a bit more life to your garden whilst still maintaining the privacy that a fence would offer, why not try adding a living wall to your garden? They coincide with current garden trends, where all available space in the garden is used for plants.

A simple and easy way to add the living wall look to your garden is to use a trellis planter, this gives climbing plants a vertical pathway to fill your garden with height and colour.

Natural water features

Natural ponds and water features are becoming increasingly popular due to the wildlife that they bring in and the planting opportunities that they provide. You can ensure that the water is being used in a sustainable way by using the following methods:

  • Incorporate rain borders using aggregates and large rocks.
  • Use SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) compliant materials
  • Use a natural water runoff system
  • Use a water collection method such as a water butt

Low maintenance gravel gardens

If you’re looking for a low maintenance way to make a difference in your outdoor space, gravel gardens are the way for you.

Gravel gardens primarily consist of gravel instead of soil, with plants that have been carefully chosen throughout. Gravel ranging from pea gravel down to ¼ inch, is evenly spread over the existing ground, to around a depth of 4-6 inches. The root-ball base of a 3-4.5 inch potted plant is planted near the top and surrounded with gravel.
