Response to Potential Outcomes of BrexitDear NWTT Customers,
We are writing to you to raise awareness of some of the potential outcomes from the UK Government BREXIT negotiations and how they could affect our commercial relationship with you.
In the interests of a 'safe working relationship' we feel it is important to provide some assurance and communicate how we can minimise the risk to your organisation and maintain the supply of our products to you after March 2019. At the end of March 2019 potential new trading terms with the EU could cause significant port congestion and administrative delay in the movement of goods. Whilst North West Timber Treatments (NWTT) purchases nearly all of its products within the UK, most of the key raw materials for our products are sourced from numerous locations in Europe and around the world and maintaining this flow remains a key objective.
NWTT will be committing significant funds in boosting stock levels prior to the end of March 2019 in order not to be dependant on any imported products throughout April 2019. Stock of finished products will be maintained at peak capacity and all available storage will be utilised and we strongly recommend our customers check their own stock levels in the early part of 2019.
The management of NWTT have been considering the implications of a 'no deal' scenario and believe there to be some risk that imports for the EU could be face with import duties which would negatively impact the cost of our products. Whilst we sincerely hope this will not be one of the outcomes, we do need to advise you that the price of our products may have to change to reflect this, also including increased handling charges and,or rising transport costs. We are being warned that many of our raw material contracts now come with a 'BREXIT clause' and realise the impact this could have to your business and NWTT will only act on these if these increased costs are received.
We are committed to do all we can to mitigate the impact of the upcoming changes and we will do everything within our control to continue the safe and consistent supply of our products to you. Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Andrew Foster or Sam Mayor who will be more than happy to help you.
Thank you for your attention.
