Plant a Tree for The Jubilee!

Plant a Tree For The Jubilee!

As you will have heard, the Queens Platinum jubilee is approaching, celebrating 70 years since her coronation. This once in a lifetime celebration is not one to be missed and I am sure that the whole country will be out making the most of the long bank holiday weekend. So Here’s a what you can do to be part of the jubiliation:

Plant a Tree

The Queens Green Canopy is a unique tree-planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee year in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. We at NWTT believe this is a great initiative to get involved in, if that be in your garden, something you do within your workplace, school, in your town/village or any community groups you may be in, so why not join the celebrations and plant a tree for the jubilee!

Stakes for tree planting are available here at NWTT, so why not grab one and get planting!

The environmental impact of tree planting

  • Reducing climate change
One main trouble we face is CO2. CO2 contributes to climate change which is one of (if not) the biggest problem the world has to deal with. Luckily for us, trees help fight it. They absorb the  CO2 removing it from the air and storing it while releasing oxygen for us to breathe in.

  • Cleaner Air
It is well known that trees purify the air. they absorb pollutant gases such as nitrogen oxides, ammonia & sulphur dioxide. Trees also absorb smells and act as a filter due to small particulates getting trapped in leaves. A mature acre of trees can provide oxygen for 18 people yearly.
  • Reinforcing Soil
Trees have an amazing influence on agriculture, having a positive effect on reducing soil erosion, increasing fertility and helping soil obtain moisture. Fallen leaves can reduce soil temperature and stop it losing too much moisture and as a bonus, any decaying leaves that fall to the ground turn into nutrients for tree growth!
  • Landscape Improvement
Planting on idle land can improve its biodiversity and landscape. Furthermore, trees usually host a lot of insects, which help in the pollination of nearby crops. Which in turn can increase your farm’s biodiversity.

We hope this blog has influenced you to get involved on this special occasion so lets all do our bit and get planting!
